Planetary gear bearings for wind turbines

Bearings are widely used in various agricultural machinery to support rotating components, reduce friction, and ensure smooth movement. The cutting blade of a combine harvester is responsible for harvesting and collecting crops such as wheat or corn. If the cutting blade does not rotate smoothly, it can lead to uneven cutting, crop losses, and a decrease in harvesting efficiency. During the harvesting season, exposure to dirt, debris, and harsh weather conditions can cause wear on the bearing units supporting the cutting blade shaft. This wear increases friction, making it difficult for the cutting blade shaft to rotate, adversely affecting its performance.

Therefore, in response to the feedback from one of our Turkish customers in Oct., 2022, our maintenance team decided to replace the regular bearings with triple-sealed, maintenance-free bearing units designed specifically for agricultural applications. These bearing units with triple seals to prevent dust and water ingress, providing better resistance to complex environmental factors, reducing wear, and extending the lifespan of the components. The maintenance-free design also minimizes the need for frequent lubrication and adjustments, thereby reducing downtime during critical harvesting seasons. Although the cost is higher than regular bearing units, the customer decided to place a bulk order for these longer-lasting maintenance-free bearing units after experiencing their benefits in practical use.
